Island life, slow and simple

We are ideally located in the centre of Kangaroo Island, offering easy access to all attractions on the island. Our cottage is a representation of our way of life; a love of the great outdoors and appreciation for the simple things. A cosy fire, a cuppa in bed and taking our little one down to the river to explore natural wonders.

The Space

Rivarnia cottage is set on a 100 acre property through which the Eleanor river passes. The log cabin was built in 2005 to provide a luxury Eco Retreat that would enable us to share this beautiful environment with those who love nature at its best and enjoy the serene beauty and sounds of the bush.

This cottage is idyllic! We were there on our own the first time and took our kids back because we knew how much they would love it. We had a family of koalas a 50 metres away from the cottage, an echidna welcomed us a the entrance to of the driveway. The cottage is spotless and the beds are comfortable. The location of the cottage is central to a lot of the island as well. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Absolutely loved this place, I cannot really fault it. It's lovely and quiet, which my wife and I love. The scenery is magnificent, and the wildlife spectacular. Friendly, almost tame Kangaroos every evening, and sometimes morning will happily graze close by. We also saw many blue wrens which seem to live around the garden near the cottage.

About us

Hello and Hola, we are Gui (as in guitar) and Mark (as in Mark),

We are travellers who met serendipitously on the south coast of New South Wales. We have recently purchased Rivarnia cottage, a sharp contrast to our nomadic lifestyle of the past few years. Now, we are on the welcoming side, having a space to invite travellers during their discovery of the amazing Kangaroo Island.
